Chase That Rabbit

Chase That Rabbit is an investigative quartet work that interrogates the gendered hierarchical structures within Appalachian folk dance.

As a genre that has shaped much of Carrel’s current choreographic identity, the dancers re-examine various two-pair (or small circle) formations as scores for radical experimentation.

Traditional gendered notions of “gents” and “ladies” are queered as answers to the following question crystallize through performance: What happens when these intricate formations are shared by an equally important group of dancers?
