IN TENSION

In conversation with former UNC Greensboro MFA candidate Martha Joyce Craven’s Labanotated thesis, IN TENSION, depicts a plummet from structure towards collapse.

Emphasizing movement that gradually opens, widens, and cuts through clear dimensions, the dancers begin to fully realize the space, themselves, and each other. In this descent and expansion, a disillusionment of performance is revealed.
